Rationale

Over the past years, the treatment landscape of breast cancer has significantly evolved. Several new anticancer agents entered clinical use or are in late clinical development. Among them many targeted therapies, including new antibody drug conjugates and immunotherapy agents, have already shown to bring improvements in clinical outcomes, and will therefore likely impact in an increasing manner on the management of breast cancer. The advent of innovative preclinical models has accelerated tumour targets’ identification and subsequent anti-cancer agents’ development, reducing the lag-time between preclinical discoveries and introduction into the clinics. This availability of new therapeutic measures raises the important question on how to integrate them with local and regional treatments, and particularly with radiation therapy, in both curative and advanced settings. The impact of new targeted agents on tumour biology, micro- and immune-environment, and cellular energetics, can alter the clinical outcomes after irradiation. The purpose of this consensus is to provide preclinical and clinical evidence - and (where lacking) consensus-based guidelines on how to integrate targeted and other agents properly and safely with irradiation to improve the clinical care of patients affected by breast cancer who are candidates for these treatments. An international panel of experts in preclinical and translational research, drug development, and radiation therapy reviewed the available evidence and summarised recommendations to help physicians in daily clinical practice

From the A1 motorway, exit at the Firenze Sud tollbooth, continue straight ahead until you reach the only traffic light, turn left and continue straight ahead for about 2km along Lungarno Colombo. Arrived on the Lungarno del Tempio, the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo is located on the right, near the last traffic light which leads into Viale Amendola. By train
From the central station of Florence Santa Maria Novella take bus line 14 (ATAF ticket €1.20 OR €1.50 if purchased by telephone) and get off at the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo stop in Via Arnolfo (back of the hotel). Furthermore, it is also possible to reach us on foot, our Hotel is about 25 minutes from the Firenze SMN station and 15 minutes from the Firenze Campo Marte station from where you can also take bus line 13 in via Mazzini (ATTENTION no 13A) and get off at the Pecori Giraldi stop.
By plane
From the Amerigo Vespucci airport you can reach the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo by taking the shuttle that takes you to the station square, from where you can take a taxi or bus no. 14, or take a taxi directly (cost around €25.00).
